Dining Hall Guide
The player can eat and cook with students and faculty at the dining hall.
Overview
The dining hall is located in the bottom left section of the monastery, to the north of the fishing pier. The dining hall is available from the very beginning, and serves as a place for Byleth to connect with their students over a meal. The player can also choose to take part in meal prep and cook with a student each week.
Guide Contents
This guide contains the following information.
Sharing a Meal
Byleth can bond with students by eating with them.
Overview of Sharing a Meal
During the Explore Phase, Byleth can share a meal with two students by speaking to the Dining Hall Staff after completing the "Share a Bite" quest from the first chapter. The player can only eat with each student once per explore phase, and each meal costs one activity point. Other than that, there are no restrictions to how many meals you can have during each Explore Phase.
Choosing a Meal
Before sharing a meal with your students, the player must choose which meal to eat. Each free day, there will be a daily special (taken from the full menu) that does not require you to provide your own ingredients. This meal can only be eaten once (by Byleth and two students). After that, any subsequent meals will require the player to provide their own ingredients. Note that support point gains are halved when eating the daily special (see the Support Points guide for more details).
Each meal belongs to a certain category, this category will affect how much each student likes that particular meal. The categories are listed below.
- Sweets
- Spicy
- Bitter
- Meat
- Vegetables

Meal Preferences
Choosing meals that students enjoy will boost support and motivation.
Meal Preferences and Rewards
Not all students have the same taste. The meals that they like and dislike are linked with their personality, as well as the category of the meal. When Byleth shares a meal with students, support between them will increase. If the student is in your class, their motivation will also increase. Feeding your students meals that they enjoy will increase the amount of support and motivation gained. On the contrary, feeding students meals that they dislike will decrease the amount gained. Don't worry, students will never lose motivation or support points even if you continuously feed them meals they dislike.
The table below shows how much motivation is gained depending on the meal.
Meal Preference | Motivation Bars Gained |
---|---|
Like | 4 (Full) |
Neutral | 3 |
Dislike | 1 |
There are also various dining hall events that can boost the amount of support and motivation gained. The details of these events are explained in the following section. This table shows the motivation gain for those who are eligible for the event bonuses.

Dining Hall Events
The dining hall occasionally hosts events for specific groups of people to eat together.
Overview of Events
Sometimes, the dining hall will host events tailored for specific types of people. All eligible characters will receive increased bonuses from sharing a meal, described in the above section. The shared meal is set for events, and you will not have to expend ingredients. These events will be marked on the calendar. All of the available events are listed below.

Cooking Together
Byleth can cook meals with students to boost their stats for the month.
Overview of Cooking Together
The player can expend one activity point during an Explore Phase to cook with their students. This can be done after completing the "Creative Cuisines" quest, available starting from chapter 2. Cooking together will build support between Byleth and whichever character they choose to cook with. It will also provide stat bonuses that last for the entirety of the month (including auxiliary battles, paralogues, and the mission battle), depending on which dish you need to cook.
Available Dishes
Unlike dining hall events and daily specials, cooking together will require you to gather your own ingredients. These ingredients can be somewhat hard to find when compared to the basic ingredients required to cook regular dining hall dishes. They can found from auxiliary battles, gardening, or fishing. Some ingredients are also available for purchase from the marketplace merchants. The following table shows all of the available dishes, along with their ingredients list and their effects. Only one of each listed ingredient is needed.

Cooking Prowess
Some characters are good at cooking, some are terrible at it. This is shown in the game when selecting which character to cook with. Cooking with a character is good at it will double the amount of support gained, whereas cooking with a character who sucks at it will halve the support gained. Cooking prowess (for some reason) has no effect on the stats gained.
